Senior Consultant in Critical Care Medicine and Clinical Researcher
Dr. Bharath Kumar Tirupakuzhi Vijayaraghavan is a clinician-researcher specialising in critical care medicine, clinical trials and evidence-based healthcare. He serves as Senior Consultant and Research Lead in the Department of Critical Care Medicine at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, and is a member of the Chennai Critical Care Consultants Group.
His work brings together frontline intensive-care practice and clinically meaningful research. He has a particular interest in investigator-initiated clinical trials that address questions important to critically ill patients, their families, healthcare professionals and health systems in India and other low- and middle-income countries.
Dr. Bharath contributes to national and international research collaborations involving critical-care epidemiology, ICU registries, registry-embedded studies, patient-centred outcomes, sepsis, resuscitation and quality improvement. His research aims to generate reliable evidence that can improve clinical decision-making, strengthen intensive-care services and make high-quality research more relevant and accessible across resource-diverse healthcare settings.
Alongside his clinical responsibilities, he holds academic and research affiliations with leading institutions in India and the United Kingdom. Through his clinical, academic and mentoring work, he supports clinicians and researchers in developing rigorous, practical and patient-focused research.
