Biostatistician and Clinical Research Methodologist
Arpita Ghosh, PhD, is an experienced biostatistician and clinical research methodologist who supports clinicians and researchers in designing, analysing, interpreting and publishing rigorous clinical, epidemiological and population health research.
She serves as Head of Biostatistics – India at The George Institute for Global Health and holds academic appointments at the University of New South Wales and Manipal Academy of Higher Education.
Arpita has extensive experience in clinical trials, observational studies, epidemiological research, implementation research and the analysis of complex health data. Her methodological strengths include study design, sample size estimation, statistical analysis planning, pragmatic trials, complex interventions and research conducted in low- and middle-income country settings.
She works collaboratively with clinical and research teams throughout the complete research lifecycle. Her support ranges from refining clinical questions and selecting appropriate study designs to developing protocols, preparing statistical analysis plans, interpreting findings and presenting results clearly for publication and wider dissemination.
Her research experience spans cardiovascular disease, kidney disease, multimorbidity, mental health, infectious diseases, implementation science and health systems research. This broad experience allows her to provide statistical guidance that is methodologically rigorous, clinically relevant and appropriate for real-world healthcare settings.
Arpita holds a PhD in Biostatistics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is also a DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance Clinical and Public Health Intermediate Fellow.
Alongside her research work, she teaches clinical trial methodology, biostatistics, statistical analysis planning and applied data analysis. She has contributed to publications in leading statistical, clinical and medical journals.
Collaborative approach: Arpita works closely with clinicians and research teams to ensure that statistical methods remain aligned with the research question, clinical context and intended audience. Her guidance helps transform complex data into clear, reliable and publication-ready evidence.
